Phil Mitchell Spirals Out Of Control

Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.

Spoiler Alert!!!! Here’s a bit of soap gossip for you guys…it’s about EastEnders hard man Phil Mitchell. According to The Sun newspaper, Phil’s gonna get hooked on Class A drugs…namely crack cocaine, after personal problems lead to a battle with depression.

Apparently, life’s gonna get pretty difficult for Phil over the next couple of months.  As you may already know, his son, Ben Mitchell, is due to leave Walford in a dramatic upcoming storyline, and that, along with other problems, will prove to be ‘the proverbial straw that breaks Phil Mitchell’s back’.

Talking about the controversial storyline, a BBC spokeswoman said: "EastEnders has a history of tackling social issues. "We are working closely with drug and alcohol charities, including Addiction and DrugScope to make sure that we sensitively reflect this difficult issue."

Hey, I don’t know about you guys but I can’t help but wonder whether this latest  storyline  is more about improving viewing figures than tackling social issues…I hope I’m wrong. Fortunately, viewers will not see Phil Mitchell taking the Class A drugs!

So, what do you think soapsters,, are EastEnders scraping the bottom of the barrel with this drug addiction storyline? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment.
