Tony Gordon returns to the Street!

Coronation Street w/e Friday 4 June

Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh. Hey soapsters, there’s gonna be some real explosive action on Coronation Street as we see the return of Tony Gordon for the show’s much anticipated Siege Week storyline.

As you’re all aware by now, Tony escapes from prison and has his heart set on wreaking havoc on The Street and getting even with his ex-wife Carla.

Apparently actor James Fleet, who guest stars as the villainous Robbie Sloan (best known for portraying Hugo Horton on The Vicar of Dibley), has praised Corrie, describing the episodes as being "like making a film".  So, if James Fleet’s experience of filming the Siege Week episodes is anything to go by, it looks like we’re in for some real breath-taking action. Anyway, on with the show…

Tony initiates the beginnings of his master plan, meanwhile Carla begins to panic when the police arrive to inform her that her hubby’s escaped from custody.

Elsewhere, Sunita and Dev prepare to take over their new house. Tony’s mate Robbie collects all the pieces together for his master’s grand plan. Devious Tracy Barlow has a few surprises for Gail who has her big day in court. However, the trial takes a turn for the worse.

Robbie rounds up Tony’s hostages and Tony shows how far he’ll go to get what he wants. David’s quickly discredited as a reliable witness, but will his surprise witness save Gail’s neck? While all that’s going on, Roy, Gary, Trev, Steve, Tyrone and Ashley attempt to break into the factory as a manic Tony sparks his lighter… How many people will Tony take down in his quest for vengeance?

Emmerdale w/e Friday 4 June

Former Birds Of A Feather actress Pauline Quirke (who played Sharon Theodopolopodous) has joined the cast of Emmerdale as Jackson Walsh’s mother Hazel. I’m really surprised at this news – I never thought she’d do a soap. Speaking of her signing, the actress said: "I’m really looking forward to joining the show, my mum was a fan back when it was called Emmerdale Farm, so it’s always been a part of my life."

Well, I’m really looking forward to seeing Pauline Quirke on Emmerdale… I’m just wondering how long it will be before Linda Robson (who played Tracy on Birds Of A Feather) comes looking for a piece of the action (cos they’re inseparable). Anyway back to this week’s happenings on Emmerdale…

Natasha and Declan embark on a secret affair. John agrees to go easier on Holly. Aaron’s not impressed to discover that Adam put Declan in touch with Jackson. Meanwhile, John suspects Holly of stealing Ketamine, but is she really the culprit? Natasha enjoys the thrill of sneaking around with Declan.

Lisa warns Adele to be careful of Andy. Moira insists on a less strict approach with Holly, but will Holly prove her right? Rhona and Paddy have their eye on the same practice. David’s stunned to find himself in a compromising position with Tania. Meanwhile, Nicola’s in denial about her upcoming court case. Rhona struggles to come clean to Paddy about being his rival.

EastEnders w/e Friday 4 June

Hey guys, I’m sure you’ve all probably heard the news by now that Lucy Beale actress Melissa Suffield has been axed from EastEnders. According to the Daily Star Sunday, the 17-year-old – who’s played Ian Beale’s eldest daughter since 2004 – was issued with a final warning after attending a London nightclub while underage.

A source at the soap told the newspaper: "Melissa has been hauled before bosses on a number of occasions for her behaviour and attitude outside work. In the end they made the decision to let her go. An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed: "Melissa will be leaving in the summer. She’s had a fantastic six years on the show and we wish her the best of luck."

Well, who knows? Maybe being axed from EastEnders might prove to be the making of her. Anyway, let’s just hope that in years to come she doesn’t regret all of this.

On with the show… Pat’s determined to persuade Peggy to attend the breast clinic. Bianca’s nervous as she’s introduced to the appeal panel. Leon goes missing and Peter worries that he’s killed him.  Carol learns that Liam’s appeal has been unsuccessful.

Bianca decides to home-school Liam, but Carol suggests that they should fight the system. Bianca’s determined to prove Carol wrong and show that she’s more than capable of home-schooling Liam. Lucy feels left out when she’s sidelined by Leon, Zsa Zsa and the rest of the gang when they invite Lauren to a party. Shirley lets Louise know that Phil’s on a weekend bender.

Elsewhere, Ian’s not impressed with Shirley’s interference in Ben’s life. Mercy informs Fatboy that she’s moving back to Lagos with her grandmother Grace. Shirley’s concerned that Phil’s nothing without Ben. Darren and Max are pleasantly surprised when a flashy Vanessa struts into Walford in search of a new car.

Hollyoaks w/e Friday 4 June

Don’t you just love it when you’re the first to hear about the outcome of some juicy soap storyline due to someone carelessly leaving a script in a pub? Or worse still, due to some unofficial media leak? Well, Hollyoaks boss Paul Marquess has had enough and has recently revealed that upcoming Hollyoaks storylines will be kept top secret.

Speaking to Radio Times, Marquess said: "Later in the year we’ll be doing a story for which we’ll film three endings and no-one will know until the night of transmission which one we’ll use." Hey, sounds to me like he’s been inspired by the success of EastEnders live 25th anniversary episode. Anyway, back to this week’s drama on Hollyoaks…

Malachy tries to convince the police he’s Calvin’s murderer. Mercedes urges Jacqui to turn Theresa in. Jake finally hears Adam’s side of the story and is shocked to learn that Loretta’s not telling him the whole truth. Jacqui pressures Theresa to make a decision about Calvin’s baby – is she having it or not?

Meanwhile, Lauren worries over Leo – Calvin’s death has hit him hard. Jake tries to convince Loretta to shop stalker Adam to the police. Tom warns Gilly to treat Steph right. Steph gets some shocking news about her health. Gilly tries to persuade Neville to go and see Josh as he could get sent down… however, Neville’s cold and dismissive.

Ste’s confident that Olly’s getting nowhere with Amy. Steph tries to comes to terms with the news about her health. Loretta’s ex-boyfriend Adam shows up and warns Jake that she’s dangerous.
