The news comes just a few weeks after the loss of actor Charlie Clements who played her screen husband Bradley.
During her stint on the show, Lacey won numerous awards for her brilliant portrayal of Stacey; she was Inside Soap’s Best Young Actor in 2005 and TV Quick and Choice’s Best Soap Newcomer in the same year – and that’s just for starters.
The actress has picked up a brace of awards over the years including Best Actress at the British Soap Awards, Ultimate TV Actress at the Cosmopolitan: Woman of the Year awards and Best Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards.
It appears that Lacey’s after something else to get her teeth into. She said: “I’m so lucky to have had such challenging storylines. I’ll miss everyone in Albert Square, but the time has come to try something different.” Lacey will have a big storyline before she leaves but she will not be killed off. The door will be left open for her to return.
How do you feel about this news? Are you sad to lose Stacey Branning so quickly after Bradley and with Barbara Windsor’s Peggy ducking out soon? How do you think Stacey should be written out? Have your say by leaving a comment but please keep it clean.
