Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.
As we all know, the 25-year-old actress left the show five years ago to broaden her acting experience…oh…and to conquer America (she starred in that remake of the 70s hit show, The Bionic Woman…it’s just a shame it wasn’t a hit second time round).
Although vowing never to return to the EastEnders role that launched her career (likening her time on the soap to "an apprenticeship" within the industry), the soap star, who has since worked in Hollywood and on successful programs such as Merlin and Doctor Who, is now being linked to a return to Albert Square.
According to The People, Michelle Ryan could be returning to EastEnders for a Christmas storyline involving the return of her screen mum, Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace) and the lovable Alfie Moon (played by Shane Richie).
Now, although this is good news, especially in view of the massive cull that has recently taken place on ‘Enders, I wouldn’t get overly excited just yet, because apparently a BBC source has dismissed the reports, stating: "Speculation is rife about returning characters but this is not true. However, as with all characters, we would never say never."
Well, I’ll take that final statement of ‘never say never’ as a broad hint that we could well be seeing Michelle Ryan back on our screens as Zoe Slater in December…and with Charlie Slater being one of the casualties of the recent cull, the Slater family could do with a bit of beefing up.
So, what do you think guys, should Michelle Ryan return to EastEnders? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment.
