Burial for Bradley in EastEnders

Hello and welcome to another edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.  What’s going on in the soaps this week? Let’s find out (spoilers ahead).

EastEnders w/e Friday 5 March

Bradley/Charlie Clements fans will need loads of tissue this week but before we talk about that, some news about Mohammed George. If you’ve been following this blog for years, you’ll know that back in the day, we had a Friday feature called ‘Gus Watch’ – based on our hero Gus Smith from EastEnders.
Unfortunately poor Mohammed George hasn’t had a good time since being axed.
He has spoken to the Daily Star about the depression he’s suffered as a result: "It’s been nearly two years since I left and I haven’t had one single acting job since. But I’m not going to give up," he said. Oh dear. We wish him luck.
My mother-in-law screamed laughing while Zainab was giving birth; I would’ve asked her what was so funny but I was laughing my head off at her. It feels like we’ve left EastEnders 25 well behind us; Jane’s concerned about Ian’s court appearance but Lucy and Peter are more bothered about their love lives. Bianca’s not happy about Whitney and Billie’s relationship. Jane’s shocked when Lucy reveals that she’s pregnant.
Zainab urges Masood to tell the truth about the missing post. Max continues to struggle with Bradley’s death. Shirley manages to persuade headmaster Mr Allcock to give Zsa Zsa a space at the local school. Patrick discovers that Owen’s not used his mobile since November. Knowing that Jane desperately wants a baby, Lucy makes a shocking suggestion. It’s the day of Bradley’s funeral and Max, understandably, is going through a terrible time.
Lucas is shocked to hear that Patrick and Liz are planning on reporting Owen’s disappearance to the police. Billie tells Whitney that he’s left his old life behind. Jane makes a decision about Lucy’s offer. Billie’s old friends Connor and Kylie turn up in the Square and he insists that he’s got rid of the gun. Max and Becca get close…

Emmerdale w/e Friday 5 March

After the somewhat depressing news about EastEnders’ Mohammed George, it’s nice to have good news in Emmerdale. Deena Payne, who plays unlucky-in-love Viv Hope, has married her long-term love. Steve Grant, who used to be in 1970s glam rock band Sweet, proposed to her with a lovely text message. They’ve been together for 21 years but they wed in Barbados last month. Congratulations to them both!
It’s heavy action with the Wyldes this week – so many issues in that family! Faye frantically tries to stop a furious Nathan from packing her belongings at Tenant’s. She tries to talk him round and after Ryan arrives, he picks a fight. Will Nathan’s hatred go too far? Charity’s shocked when Noah tells her he saw Cain at the scene of the heist before Carl arrived. Yikes! Natasha returns and is furious to find Nathan showing someone around the estate. Will Natasha reveal the truth about Mark?
Charity can’t resist telling Debbie about Cain’s part in the heist. Nathan wants Natasha to explain her recent anxiety – he assumes it’s to do with Mark. Will Natasha confess? Zak and Lisa move their furniture back into Wishing Well, but Zak refuses to let Shadrach move back in. Olena (yes, she’s still around) feels awkward at Sam’s reaction when she arrives back at Wishing Well with Eli. Natasha’s at boiling point when Nathan speaks down to her. Debbie’s finding the tension between Charity and Cain too much and is later annoyed when Cain gives her a share of the money from the satnav deal. Natasha forces Nathan out of the village.

Coronation Street w/e Friday 5 March
Before we get to the sad situation with Becky and Steve, Tracy Barlow’s Coronation Street return could spell trouble for just about everyone, including Peter Barlow and Leanne Battersby. I’m not the biggest fan of Peter and Leanne’s romance – it feels like they’re just thrown together for the sake of a storyline.
Anyway, Tracy (played by Kate Ford) is set to return to Weatherfield this spring, following her spell in prison (for murdering ex-boyfriend Charlie Stubbs). I just wish Maggie Jones was still alive – I really miss Blanche Hunt. Rest in peace, Maggie.
So poor Becky suddenly becomes violently ill and wonders if she’s suffering from more than morning sickness. Is her pregnancy in danger? Leanne’s shocked when Peter arrives back on the Street. Steve urges a drunken Becky to come home. Leanne’s sceptical as Peter tells her he’s checked himself out of rehab. Tina confronts Gail over the text from Joe. Sunita has an ultimatum for Dev; will he agree to play by her rules? Probably not as I can’t see them letting Dev play happy families for much longer. A shame cos I’m really liking the Sunita/Dev pairing this time around.
The police examine Joe’s life insurance policy. Peter’s on edge when Simon and George aren’t on the flight back from Spain. Steve’s still struggling to get through to Becky but will Liz be able to make a breakthrough? As Gail tells her story at the police station, she’s stunned to see the insurance document bearing her signature. Uh-oh, it’s not looking good for Gail. Trevor mistakes Carla for Underworld’s cleaner and invites her out for a drink… how will she react? Gail realises that she’s under suspicion for murder.

Hollyoaks w/e Friday 5 March

So the big news in Hollyoaks is that they’ve bagged an ex-Emmerdale actress. Sheree Murphy will play Anita Roy’s (Saira Choudhry) long-lost mother Eva. She’s best known for playing Tricia Dingle from 1998-2004. However, I’ll never forget when she was on I’m A Celebrity in 2005; she kept going on about husband Harry Kewell’s "peachy" bum. Bet his Liverpool team mates (at that time) gave him a hard time in the showers about that. Can’t wait to see how she does on Hollyoaks.

So what do we make of Hollyoaks at the moment? I feel like it’s in a bit of a transitional phase. Let’s see how things turn out this week. The ‘Find Holly’ campaign is stepped up a gear with a TV reconstruction. India’s had enough of living in filth in halls and tries to force Dave to clean up his mess. Cindy takes her anger out on Tony, telling him she holds him responsible for Holly’s disappearance. Darren wants to know what Cindy and Tony have done that’s caused Holly to run away.

Kris and Nancy rub each other up the wrong way. Jake’s all over the news as a suspect in Holly’s disappearance. Elliot realises he’s not over Sheila when he finds himself jealous of her spending time with Dave. Jacqui goes to see Des, but she finds it hard to express her feelings. Cindy and Tony’s relationship’s becoming increasingly strained and Dominic feels stuck in the middle. The police discover a body and Cindy and Tony have to make the identification. Jake’s forced to hide in The Loft from the press. Theresa finally admits she lied about Des coming on to her; Jacqui’s furious but Theresa’s adamant she deserved it. Josh goes to see Dave in a bid to rebuild their friendship.
