Ciaran returns to Coronation Street

Hello and welcome to another edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.  What’s going on in the soaps this week? Let’s find out (spoilers ahead).

Coronation Street w/e Friday Feb 5
Before we talk about Boyzone’s Keith Duffy being back on the cobbles, news about another musician. Rapper Snoop Dogg has revealed that he’s a Coronation Street fan and would love to put in a cameo appearance.

That has to be one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever heard. The Sun quotes him as saying: "When I’m in Britain, I love to eat Indian food and chill in my hotel room and watch Coronation Street… If Coronation Street want me to make a cameo then, cool, let’s do it. Maybe I could just play myself doing a concert in Manchester…"

In a diss to the Walford Crew, he said: "I’m not interested in other soaps like EastEnders, Coronation Street is what it’s all about." There is no way the producers are going to pass up that opportunity. If he’s serious, they will take him up on the offer. It sure beat Status Quo anyway!

Ken attempts to talk Peter out of sending Simon to Oakhill private school. Peter discovers that his old mate Ciaran’s back. I’m not sure how I feel about Keith Duffy’s return; I can take Ciaran or leave him really. I’d much prefer to hear that Cilla’s back.

Anyway, a chuffed Steve is thrilled about Becky’s pregnancy but she’s not so sure… Molly and Tyrone turn up with get well cards for Sally. Peter starts drinking again and Ken’s annoyed when Peter forgets to pick Simon up from school. Betty’s 90th birthday party takes place in The Rovers.

Rick the debt collector turns up to see Joe. Ken, Deirdre and Leanne watch in horror as a drunken Peter makes a fool of himself in front of everyone, including the local press. Joe tells Tina about his debts and leaves for a trip.

Betty’s interviewed by The Gazette

Emmerdale w/e Friday Feb 5

So the big news is that former Hear’Say star Suzanne Shaw will play the granddaughter of Edna Birch in Emmerdale. Will she make as big an impression on this soap as Kym Marsh has made on Coronation Street? What’s going on at the moment? Snoop wanting to be on Corrie and Suzanne Shaw in the Dales – pop stars are taking over the soaps.

This week, it’s a catfight on Emmerdale as Hannah and Victoria come to blows. Natasha’s irritated at seeing Maisie hungover. Val and Pollard are on a high with the new restaurant doing so well. Maisie isn’t happy that Ryan’s moving into Victoria Cottage. Natasha’s frozen to the spot as the police reveal they’ve recovered a body… have they found Mark?

Lisa’s amazed when Zak reveals that he’s taking her away but Shadrach’s peeved at being left out. Diane attempts to break the ice with Moira. Natasha breaks down and tells Faye that she knows Mark’s dead. How long can she maintain the cover over her murderous secret? Marlon’s concerned for Diane. Zak and Lisa return to a wrecked house. What will the Dingles do? Where is Shadrach? Will he return to face the music? It’s the anniversary of Jack’s death and Diane, Andy and Victoria share a poignant moment at his grave. The police ask Natasha to ID the body that they’ve found…

EastEnders w/e Friday Feb 5

Reports suggest that Lucy Beale will find out that she’s pregnant. Ian’s little girl, played by 17-year-old Melissa Suffield, will be shocked but wait until daddy finds out. And by daddy, I mean Ian – not the father of the baby. An EastEnders source said: "Lucy falls pregnant just at a time when Jane’s desperate for a child of her own. Jane believes that the baby could be the solution to her dream of having a baby with Ian." More baby drama on EastEnders – wonderful.

Peggy’s struggling with the fact that Roxy’s in charge of The Vic. Frustrated by Syed’s behaviour and attitude towards her, Amira bumps into Danny and shares a kiss with him. Stacey apologises to Bradley as nobody believes that the baby’s his. Tiffany and Liam snub Dotty’s birthday but Dotty’s determined to get revenge. Jack’s shocked when he sees that Ronnie’s torn and scattered flowers over Archie’s grave. Roxy’s excited about her plans for The Vic.

Bianca opens a letter from her father David explaining that he can’t attend the wedding. Billie returns to the Square and manages to save his niece Tiffany when Dotty traps her in a wheelie bin. Syed and Zainab panic about how much of their argument Amira might have heard. Dr Al tells Roxy that he’s handed in his notice and asks her to move to Cornwall with him. Becca and Stacey attempt to trick Mr Lister in giving Stacey her stall back. Peggy’s left red-faced when she accuses Danny of stealing cash. It’s the day of Tiffany’s party and Jack’s shocked by her revelation about Bradley…
Also on EastEnders this week:
Ronnie insists that she didn’t kill Archie
Bianca’s got money worries

Hollyoaks w/e Friday Feb 5

So the big news is that Katie’s Price’s boyfriend Alex Reid has won Celebrity Big Brother. He was booed into the house, but cheered out. Good for him. He has a connection to Hollyoaks; he played footballer Jason Cunliffe and he was the love interest of Geri (Joanna Taylor). Does anyone remember him?

Calvin and Mercedes continue flirting but they get interrupted when Malachy arrives for work. He speaks to Kris and tells him that he’s worried Mercedes is falling for Calvin. Hannah’s unaware she’s being observed. Archie’s worried about his financial affairs. Meanwhile, fed up with his life revolving around Relish and his aneurysm, Ravi decides he wants more. Struggling to concentrate on his studies, Elliot’s becoming increasingly frustrated with a manic Archie. After the dating event at The Loft, Carmel starts to realise how much she misses having Calvin around. Hannah’s still reeling over Jamie’s arrival and continues to argue with Rhys.

Mercedes tries to put Carmel off Calvin, unaware that Malachy’s listening in. Elliot panics when he realises he’s fallen asleep and hasn’t finished an assignment. Rhys’ worried about Hannah now that Jamie’s back on the scene. He begs Darren to help him get rid of him. Frankie automatically assumes Steph’s down after splitting with Fernando and encourages her to write him a letter. Thinking of Carmel and their ‘first date’, Calvin tells Ravi he’s now unable to help him at the club as promised. With the talent show looming, Cindy’s going all out in preparing Holly to win. Dominic has a run-in with Carmel and then Tony. Calvin’s confused after his date with Carmel… will Carmel be able to forgive and forget?
