Stars Of Hollyoaks Fear For Their Jobs

Hello and welcome to another edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.

According to The Daily Star, the cast of Hollyoaks are fearing for their jobs following the appointment of the show’s new producer Paul Marquess. As you may already be aware, Marquess began work on the soap earlier this month after the departure of Lucy Allan. It’s been reported that there’s an "air of change" on the Hollyoaks set, with actors and actresses bracing themselves for a cast clear-out.

The Daily Star says the show’s cast are expecting a massive cull, as Paul Marquess, who’s also worked on The Bill and Family Affairs, has a reputation for initiating cast overhauls.

A source recently said: “Everyone is expecting a mass cull…. things do need a bit of a shake-up. Like any soap, you need to keep things fresh. If that means out with the old and in with the new, then so be it."

Well, we already know that Ricky Whittle’s set to leave Hollyoaks in May. In fact, with all the extra work he’s got lined up off the back of his stint on Strictly Come Dancing, I bet he wishes he could literally ‘flash forward’ to midnight May 31 2010, when he’ll finally be free of his Hollyoaks shackles…s orry, I mean contract.

Anyway,  if you were the producer of Hollyoaks who would you give their marching orders? Let us know by leaving a comment.

That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Friday for the results of this week’s caption competition. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
