Hello and welcome to another edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.
EastEnders bosses have insisted that Bradley Branning will not be committing suicide in the live 25th anniversary episode to be aired next month. Apparently, the BBC dismissed reports that Bradley, played by actor Charlie Clements, will leap to his death off a building in Albert Square.
As we all know, in November Charlie Clements announced his decision to leave EastEnders after four years in the soap. At the time, EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer said: "Viewers will miss Charlie hugely and I can promise a big exit."
Typically perhaps, a tabloid newspaper reported that Bradley was set to jump from a building in Albert Square after being implicated over Archie’s death. A BBC spokesperson has denied these claims stating: "We will not comment on Bradley’s exit storyline other than to say he does not commit suicide."
Apparently, insiders were quoted as saying that the scriptwriters had tried to make his last scene one of the most heart-breaking soap farewells ever.
People may have denied the rumours, but who knows? In a live episode, with multiple endings planned, anything could happen.
It’ll be interesting to see how Bradley is written out of EastEnders… I just hope they don’t kill him off cos there’s still plenty of mileage in Charlie Clements’ character. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait until that special live 25th anniversary episode. Among other things, we’ll finally find out who killed Archie Mitchell.
Anyway, whatever the powers- that-be decide to do with poor old Bradley, one thing’s certain, his exit from EastEnders is sure to be a spectacular one.
How do you think Bradley Branning should be written out of EastEnders? Let’s us know your thoughts by leaving a comment.
That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Friday for the results of this week’s caption competition. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
