EastEnders welcomes another Mitchell

Hello and welcome to another edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.  What’s going on in the soaps this week? Well, as one Mitchell gets ready to depart from EastEnders (Peggy, played by Barbara Windsor), another one gets ready to make a mark.

The Mitchell clan swells again with the news that Ronnie and Roxy have a long lost brother. His name is Danny and he’s a real looker. Danny is played by 24-year-old actor Liam Bergin, currently best known for playing Rupert in Trinity. He has also had small roles in Doctors and Five’s terrible 2009 remake of Minder.

Remember the days when the Mitchells were just Phil (Steve McFadden), Grant (Ross Kemp), Sam (Danniella Westbrook) and Peggy (Jo Warne and then Barbara Windsor)?

Since then, the clan has expanded with Mitchell sisters Roxy (Rita Simons) and Ronnie (Samantha Womack) and their newly-murdered father Archie (Larry Lamb) among others (Billy). It looks like Danny Mitchell will stir things up in Albert Square. How do you feel about this latest Mitchell family member? Do you think he’ll be a good addition? Are you excited about this latest plot development? Have your say.

That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Wednesday for more soap news and gossip and don’t forget to try this week’s caption competition. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.

Instead of adding to Eastenders, surely, it ought to be totally scrapped, after all, that\’s what usually happens to rubbish.

  4. Becca says:

  5. David says:

Well blow me down, we get rid of one Mitchell to be replaced by another. What they really needed was to get rid of the present writers and give the job to one of their long lost relatives. Honestly, do the writers not have an original idea now and again. It would appear that the only thing they can think of is "Find a long lost relative". If the present cast can not have new stories or their characters are exhausted perhaps it is time either, the prersent cast all get killed off by a mystery illness and new residents move in or, better still, they all get killed off and the whole square gets wiped off the face of the earth and turned into a hypermarket, there thats a plot for you, an old world war two UXB gos off and demolish the square and all who live there and as a memerial it is decided to build a hypermarket on the site in honour of the residents. But this story line can only be accepted if the manager of the hypermarket is not any known relative of present characters.

  6. Emma says:

so much for, "I am the one and only" eh, Chesney Hawkes??
