Get ready to cry into your beers – Stacey and Bradley are not going to be a golden couple anymore because EastEnders favourite Charlie Clements is quitting.
He’s leaving after nearly four years. The 22-year-old actor has played Bradley Branning since January 2006. The character first entered Albert Square when he moved in with his grandfather Jim (John Bardon). Talking about his decision to quit, Charlie said: "I have been at EastEnders for nearly four years and I have enjoyed every minute with some fantastic storylines. But I feel that now is the time to take on some new roles."
Apparently, he will be written out with a "sensational storyline" as part of the soap’s 25th anniversary celebrations in February 2010. Playing Bradley Branning has brought Charlie Clements numerous awards – he’s a huge hit with viewers and the news of his departure will disappoint fans. There are rumours that Bradley and ex wife Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) may get back together before he goes.
This is a bit of a blow to the BBC soap as it comes hot on the heels of Barbara Windsor’s decision to quit her role as Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell after 15 years. How do you feel about Charlie Clements’ departure? How do you think he should be written out? Share your thoughts here.
