Enders’ Darren visits son George Michael

Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh. What’s going on in the soaps this week? Let’s find out.

EastEnders w/e Friday October 30

I am now convinced that EastEnders’ writers just threw in the Heather pregnancy and decided to come up with a father afterwards. And they chose the most unlikely father ever! I mean, how is it possible? How?!? HOW?!?

We’re supposed to believe that young Darren and Heather… ? YUCK. I thought that the Molly and Kevin shenanigans in Coronation Street was bad enough but congratulations to EastEnders for topping it.

Anyway, over nine million tuned in to watch the reveal. From now on, I’m not eating my dinner in front of EastEnders. Shirley, Heather and baby George return home. Darren goes to see Heather. Syed’s forced to hide the blackmail note. Janine spies on Archie and Jack. Libby tells Denise that she wants both her and Owen to attend her wedding. Syed confronts Tamwar.

Jack invites Sam out on a date. Ian tells Jane that they can’t afford another child. Ryan flirts with Ronnie to make Janine jealous. At the Car Lot, Janine flirts with Archie (yuck). Jack offers Ricky advice on women. Lucas spots a photo of Trina on the side stand. Libby returns to Oxford and Lucas and Owen have a bit of argy-bargy. Shirley guesses that Darren is the father of George Michael and warns him to stay away.

Also on EastEnders this week:
Lucas tells Libby that Owen deserves a second chance
Christian confides in Lucy about his dilemma
Billy wants to rent Heather’s spare room

Emmerdale w/e Friday October 30

The Press Association is reporting that Emmerdale star Lyndon Ogbourne, who plays Nathan Wylde, says it’s "massively" unfair that Emmerdale missed out on gongs at the Inside Soap Awards in September. I’ve always wondered why cast members for Emmerdale and, to a lesser extent Hollyoaks, bother going to the Inside Soap Awards. You just know that EastEnders will win most of the awards, with Coronation Street following and then the others will have to fight for the scraps. It happens every year. Hey, Lyndon – at least the food and drink’s free.

In Emmerdale this week, Debbie’s touched when Charity gives her a birthday gift… but not so touched when she realises why. Marlon returns to the pub after a meeting with his solicitor. Laurel’s deeply concerned when a battered and bruised Sally turns up. Carl and Jimmy case the storage warehouse. Ashley announces that the Bishop is on his way over with Vincent. Outraged, Vincent protests his innocence. Debbie’s still bitter about Charity’s sudden departure. Nikhil and Jai are surprised when Chas proposes that the entire workforce receive a bonus for working extra hours.

Katie’s stunned when Maisie tells her that Mark and Faye had an affair. Carl goes ahead with the break-in, despite Jimmy’s warning; Charity catches Carl red-handed so they strike a deal. Edna gets a shock because of Sally. Nathan blackmails Leyla and Charity starts her mission to reel Cain in…

Also on Emmerdale this week:
Debbie reveals the true identity of Noah’s father
Maisie offers to help Katie at the stables
Viv confronts Nicola’s public display of breast feeding

Coronation Street w/e Friday October 30

As someone checks in, someone checks out of Corrie this week. Ex-Shameless actor Kenny Doughty plays a handsome builder named Jake who falls for Michelle Connor. In Wednesday’s episode, Jake is left hanging from a gutter until Michelle, who’s having a bath, rushes to his aid. That’s just the kind of thing that happens every day, isn’t it soapsters? But then again, we are in soapland. As for the person going – I almost think I’ll miss him.

Kevin and Molly arrange another secret date but Pam gets suspicious. Tony is relieved when Helen and Barry go back to Ireland. Maria wants to contact Carla to let her know about their engagement and Tony panics.

Norris struggles with another employee at The Kabin. Ryan convinces Michelle to let Ben stay with them at the flat. Ben falls for Michelle (milf business!)… and so does Dev’s builder Jake. Tony suffers a heart attack and Roy phones for an ambulance.

At the hospital, the doctor tells Roy that Tony has suffered a massive heart attack and is unlikely to survive the night. Roy keeps a vigil at Tony’s bedside… and hears a deathbed confession about killing Liam. After a Halloween misunderstanding, Peter accidentally hits Simon in the face. Leanne feels terrible as they take Simon to casualty. Pam tells Kevin that she’s glad his affair with Molly is over and warns him to stay away from her in future. Are Kevin and Molly out of danger? Do we really care?

Also on Coronation Street this week:
Michelle spots a damp patch on the ceiling of her flat
Ashley heads off for his vasectomy again
Jake makes a proposal to Michelle

Hollyoaks w/e Friday October 30

A quick Ricky Whittle Strictly Come Dancing update for anyone that didn’t see the show. Ricky is continuing to dance well – this week it was a samba. His fit body was on display and there was a good deal of hip action. He’s not going anywhere for now. In other Hollyoaks news, T4 host Rick Edwards is gonna make his second cameo appearance on Oaks in December – so look out for that.

This week, Frankie’s desperate to have her family back together. Newt disappears again. Amy continues to struggle with post-natal depression. Gilly writes a poem about his feelings for Steph but it all turns into a big misunderstanding ending with Fernando punching Rhys. Newt wants to speak to the old lady he mugged in the hope of returning her purse. Ravi offers Ste a job as Relish’s new chef. Jake isn’t so hopeful of finding employment after Steph points out that he’ll have to declare his criminal record.

Cheryl asks Gilly out. Newt returns Rae’s gran’s purse. Cheryl tries to get Calvin’s attention. Gilly and Cheryl try to make Calvin and Steph jealous so they snog each other. Tom doesn’t like living alone with Steph. Leila is worried about Anita’s eating problems. Newt videos Rae and freaks her out. Theresa realises just how messed-up Newt is but he’s decided to move on with his life. Next thing, he’s cutting off his hair… Darren and Malachy get into a fight. The SU Bar’s decked out for Halloween. Archie’s freaked out when he finds a dead rat in the fridge. Dave, Archie and Josh come face to face with their tormentor…

Also on Hollyoaks this week:
Gaz tries to be friends with Lauren
Sasha and Mercedes are still at odds with each other
Tony and Cindy take Holly and Tom trick or treating.

That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Wednesday for more soap news and gossip and don’t forget to try this week’s caption competition
