Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.
Coronation Street actress Maggie Jones is seriously ill in hospital after major surgery. The Corrie star, aged 75, who plays battleaxe Blanche Hunt, had a life-saving operation on Saturday and remains in Hope Hospital, Salford, Greater Manchester.
A spokeswoman has confirmed that Maggie Jones is said to be "seriously ill". Initially reports were circulating that the Corrie actress had ruptured her spleen in a fall, but it’s been confirmed that those reports were incorrect.
Fellow Coronation Street veteran Bill Tarmey, who plays Jack Duckworth, said his thoughts are with the actress stating: "My beautiful Maggie. She is a delight, she is wonderful and I am just hoping she will be ok."
Maggie Jones, who’s a widow, has been written out until the New Year. Here on A Slice Of Soap, we’d like to wish Maggie Jones a speedy recovery and hope that it won’t be too long before the legendary soap character returns to the cobbles. The show desperately needs her.
That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Friday for more soap news and gossip and don’t forget to try this week’s caption competition
