Ricky Whittle Is The Bookies’ Favourite!

Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.

Ricky Whittle has taken over as the bookies’ favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing 2009. The 27-year-old actor, who plays Calvin Valentine on Hollyoaks, has new odds of 2/1 of taking the title.

Although Whittle and his dance partner have only taken part in the group dance, they’re obviously a huge hit with the great British public… and in Whittle’s case, with the ladies in particular.

Boxer Joe Calzaghe, who was the bookies’ favourite before Strictly started, has seen his odds of winning slashed to 25/1, after his dreary performance. How he’s still there is beyond me. The Bill star Ali Bastian is now second favourite with odds of 9/4, followed by Jade Johnson (8/1), Chris Hollins (9/1) and Laila Rouass (12/1).

Ricky Whittle can’t wait for his Strictly Come Dancing debut. Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, he said: "The rumba is a very sexy dance with two lovers at the centre of its story and I’m really looking forward to performing it."

His two dances are the waltz and the rumba. If Ricky’s form in the group dance is anything to go by, we’re in for something really special. So, whatever you do guys, don’t miss Strictly this weekend.

That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Friday  for more soap news and the result of this  week’s caption competition.  Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
