Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition
so get scribbling and make us all laugh.
EastEnders w/e Friday September 25
Well the big news remains the fact that Danniella Westbrook will only be back on EastEnders for a short period of time. I know that the powers that be are saying that was always the intention, but why not state that from the start, then?
The last time Ross Kemp returned, they made it clear that he wouldn’t be sticking around for long. I’m not sure why they bothered to bring Danniella back now – unless it was just for temporary hype.
This week, Archie’s got an indecent proposal for Peggy. The Mitchells reluctantly take him up on it. It’s the day of the Miss Queen Vic competition and Sam walks in with Peggy. Jane begins packing for the Branning/Beale wife swap. I’m not even going to touch this storyline… The kids tell Bianca how much they’re missing Ricky. Joel tells Ronnie that everything will be perfect when they start a new life together.
Meanwhile, the wife swap is ongoing and Ian accidentally climbs into bed with a horrified Tanya [rolls eyes]. Roxy clashes with Sam again. Ricky and Sam have a heart-to-heart and kiss – Bianca sees them. Stacey wakes up with Ryan but she bolts out leaving Ryan disappointed. Bradley’s concerned about Stacey’s behaviour. Darren offers Whitney a job. Sam suggests that Ricky move in with the Mitchells. Bradley tells Syd that he’s now decided to move to Canada with her and Noah.

Hollyoaks w/e Friday September 25
I’m doing the live blog for Strictly Come Dancing this year and I’m really enjoying watching all the soap stars on the show this year. In the group dance, Ricky Whittle (Hollyoaks’ Calvin) looked very good. He caught Len Goodman’s eye too. Is it possible that another soap star will be a Strictly Come Dancing champion? We’ll see. But on Hollyoaks this week, it’s in with the new as a batch of students arrive to wreak havoc in the village.
Lauren’s shocked when Frankie reveals that Gaz is still alive. Elliot and Zak panic when a detective quizzes them about the money. Ged tells Elliot that he wants his money back and they have 24 hours to get it to him. Steph feels bad because she forgot her boyfriend’s birthday. Cindy’s extravagance over the wedding annoys Tony. The students excitedly look forward to the freshers’ ball. Sarah and Nancy discuss the joys of being single life.
Sarah then bumps into Lydia and they have a chat and a kiss. Zak and Elliot are still panicking when they meet Ged; the money exchange goes wrong, ending with Zak seriously hurt. Theresa replies to an advert for a modelling agency. Cash is raining down from the sky; Theresa and Michaela rush over to claim their share – they’re London-bound!

Coronation Street w/e Friday September 25
Shobna Gulati has been talking to the Sunday Mercury about her imminent return t’cobbles. She’ll be reprising her role of Sunita Alahan, last seen walking out on husband Dev after finding out he had several children with different women. In the show, the couple became parents to twins that are now five years of age. I’m looking forward to seeing her back – should be an interesting dynamic with Dev.
Emily’s struggling following Ramsay’s shock death. Fiz is excitedly shopping for wedding dresses. Kirk slips and tells Chesney about Fiz marrying John in prison. A major row breaks out between the siblings. Tyrone’s desperate to fix his faltering marriage – the poor sap.
Caught between two women, Luke makes excuses to avoid a date with Rosie. But he eventually sleeps with her – then dumps her. Norris has been left a sum of money by Ramsay and finally breaks down.
It’s Fiz’s 25th birthday but it’s not one to remember. Rita sells The Kabin. Jason’s made the finals of Mr Gay UK and decides to throw a house party to celebrate. But it’s handbags at dawn when an uninvited David shows up with new girlfriend Zoe. Darryl and Amber talk about university. There are big shocks in store for both the house party hosts…

Sophie thinks she’s falling in love with Ben
Leanne tells Peter that she’s taken a job in a bar
Catfight between Michelle and Rosie!
Emmerdale w/e Friday September 25
Isn’t this a lovely story? Emmerdale stars Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden are expecting their first child together. The 21-year-old, who’s played Debbie Dingle for nearly seven years, will give birth in the spring. They’ve been dating for several years and are "delighted" about the pregnancy. Congratulations to them both. I wonder if the pregnancy will be written into Emmerdale?
On to this week and more trouble for Mark – agitated about Faye, he starts taking it out on the rest of his family. Cain tells Mark that he’s welcome to Faye. Cain confronts Michael and Jai and Nikhil continue to disagree over the factory. Paddy has cross words with Aaron. Ryan once again agrees to cover for Debbie as she goes to meet Michael. Debbie’s furious with Cain for attacking Michael but she starts to think her dad’s right about him when Michael reveals shocking news. Gennie urges Katie to forgive Ryan.
Debbie issues an ultimatum to Michael. Ryan apologises to Katie and they share a kiss. Leyla’s materialism gets the better of her and she steals money while in the Home Farm shop. Nikhil continues to play the tyrannical boss at the factory and Michael surprises Cain.
