Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.
Of course, this presents the EastEnders writers with a bit of a dilemma: they have to re-work any existing storytlines to accomodate Tanya’s departure. That won’t be easy as the actress has become one of EastEnders’ most popular characters. An insider told The Sun: "Everyone is thrilled for Jo. Because it’s twins, she’s already got a bit of a bump so viewers can expect lots of big bags and cushions in her scenes over the coming months."
Jo Joyner, born in Essex but bred in Oxfordshire, joined EastEnders back in 2006. Eagle-eyed viewers may remember her from medical drama No Angels, in which she played sexy nurse Beth Nicholls. She also appeared in Doctor Who, Silent Witness and Fat Friends before landing her current role in EastEnders. Question is, how will she be written out? Whatever scenario the writers come up with has to be enough to keep her out of the show for nearly a year.
