Owen Turner Returns To EastEnders

Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.

Hey soapsters, forget about nasty Nick Cottton and his little sidekick Dotty cos former EastEnders stars Lee Ross and Kate Williams are set to return to Albert Square later this year as screen mother and son from hell, Owen and Liz Turner.

Owen Turner gets released from prison and heads to Walford. I’m gonna take you on a trip down memory lane: three years ago Owen was sent down after trying to gas and drown his daughter Libby. But hey, that was back in 2006 – he’s done his time, he’s fully reformed and now he wants to get back in touch with Libby and ex-wife Denise to prove that his alcohol-fuelled violence is behind him… (yeah right. Why does the saying: a leopard never changes its spots keep coming to mind?).

Enders executive producer Diederick Santer said that the return of Owen is “exciting” — despite the show receiving 128 complaints over him beating Denise in 2006. Mr Santer added: “Lee’s one of the finest actors of his generation, and the scenes he did with Belinda and Diane three years ago were electrifying. I’m looking forward to more.” He added: "Kate’s brief appearances were equally memorable – she’s a brilliant comic and dramatic actress, and I’m keen to find out more about the unusual Liz Turner."

Blimey, all I can say is with someone like Owen on the loose, who needs enemies? Denise and Libby better watch out. Anyway, at least they’ve got Lucas to protect them – for a man of the cloth, he can certainly throw a mean punch; Chelsea’s footballer boyfriend can testify to that!

That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Friday for the result of the caption competition plus more soap news and gossip. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
