Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh. What’s going on in soapland this week? Let’s find out…
EastEnders w/e Friday June 19
After all the talk – it’s time for the tonsil tennis. Syed and Christian are going to kiss this week, but more of that in a minute. Remember Owen Turner? Denise Wicks’s alcoholic ex-husband? Father of Libby? The man who held Denise hostage in her own flat? Well he’s making a return to Albert Square, alongside his mother Liz (played by actors Lee Ross and Kate Williams). It’s the same old story: Owen’s gonna claim he’s a changed man…
But of course he won’t be cos that would be really boring and a waste of time. Expect him to cause trouble for Libby and her mother later this year.
Talking of trouble, this week Max and Tanya will get hot and heavy and Bradley will decide that it’s time to divorce Stacey. Zainab is still not happy about her precious son Syed’s plans. Stacey’s behaviour continues to cause concern. Bianca’s pleased that Whitney’s sitting her GCSEs. Denise isn’t happy about the end of Chelsea and Theo’s relationship – well, I am. Maybe if the writers reconcile them, they’ll do a better job the next time around. Christian’s old school friend James turns up on the Square.
WARNING: do not eat your dinner when Minty, Manda, Ronnie and Jack play strip poker as you’ll be in danger of losing it. Aunt Sal arrives at The Vic and she and Peggy snoop around Ronnie and Jack’s flat (charming!). An argument about sexuality flares up between Christian, Zainab and Syed and the latter says homosexuality’s against God’s will. Later, a fuming Christian demands to know what Syed’s problem is and… cliché, cliché, cliché … Syed leans in and kisses him. Chelsea’s disappeared and Patrick sees Lucas’s ex Trina watching him kiss Denise.

Janine meets her match in Amira

Hollyoaks w/e Friday June 19
The Chester-based soap is set to tackle the issue of binge drinking in its new online spin-off The Morning After The Night Before. The episode will follow Josh (Sonny Flood) and Sasha (Nathalie Emmanuel) as they head to Manchester to mark the end of their exams. Hollyoaks: The Morning After The Night before will make its debut on July 6. But this week, it’s all about exams… Revision turns to partying as Josh’s band gets a big break, but arguments threaten to ruin the whole gig. Lauren holds an impromptu group study-session. Zak’s still stuck for somewhere to live post-graduation. Newt and Theresa can’t keep away from each other. Hayley and Rhys kiss – is this good or bad news for the band?
Graduation day’s getting close for Zoe, but will she make the grade? Ravi’s helping out Ash with the refurbishment of his new take-away. Anita and Lauren are both having man trouble. It’s the launch of Relish and Ravi steps up to save the day. Ash tells Caleb about Ravi being bisexual and the bolshy soldier attacks his new mate. Zoe turns up at Adrian’s office and he thinks he’s got her where he wants her. Ravi’s down in the dumps after Caleb’s attack. It’s D-Day for the students as Zak, Kris, Zoe and the gang get their results. Rhys wants to make amends with Hayley but Josh may have ruined things for good. Lauren’s left stranded and Anita can’t help being drawn to Ricky.

Coronation Street w/e Friday June 19
Any Ashes To Ashes fans may want to tune in if they’re having withdrawal symptoms: Marshall Lancaster, who plays Chris Skelton in the time-travelling drama, is back on’t cobbles as Becky’s old squeeze Slug. I don’t know – first it’s a spate of babies to hit Coronation Street, now it’s weddings. Fresh off the back of Tupele Dorgu’s nuptials (she plays Kelly Crabtree), we have Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and Lucy-Jo Hudson (Weatherfield’s troubled Katy Harris before she was written out). A number of Corrie stars past and present attended as did Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, who worked with Lucy-Jo on ITV1’s Wild At Heart. Best of luck to the happy couple.
Back to Corrie and this week, David’s shocked at his mum’s coldness, and Audrey’s freezing him out too – naughty boy. Sally tries to persuade Kevin to invest in Underworld. Meanwhile their minx of a daughter Rosie dresses up in skimpy clothing to visit John in prison. Poor Fiz decides she needs to try and see John… oh dear. You can guess what’s coming.
Audrey and Natasha are shocked to discover that Tony’s spent the night at Maria’s… yuck. Kevin corners Jason and accuses him of sleeping with Molly. Norris is put out to find Ramsay and Emily enjoying a drink in The Rovers. It’s the day of the 10k fun run and Molly’s worried about it. Becky’s surprised when Slug turns up in the Rovers. Jesse Chandwick also returns to the cobbles so that Eileen can get some man-action for a change. The Kevin/Molly ick thing ramps up… yuck. Luke chats up Rosie and suggests that she invest her cash – in Underworld!

Gary apologises to Ted
Jack and Connie admit they’ve been away together
Emmerdale w/e Friday June 19
James Sutton, famous for his role as John Paul McQueen in Hollyoaks, joins the old rural soap this week. He said: "I did a scene last week with Amanda Donohoe and Maxwell Caulfield which was slightly bizarre – you know, Maxwell has had quite a big career, he’s done quite a few movies and obviously The Colbys and things, sharing a set with him is a little bit bizarre." Yep, that’s the word I’d choose for the Woodentops too – bizarre. Completely and utterly bizarre. Talking about my favourite Emmerdale family (they’re so bad, they’re good), Mark and Natasha are back and Faye’s been on the case. It’s a big week for the Woodentops so if you’re not into them, you’ll know what to expect. Mark gets a huge dose of testosterone, punches Cain and warns him to stay away from Maisie… but Cain promises to get his revenge.
Debbie’s annoyed when Carl withdraws his business from the garage. Ryan wonders who Mark is (it’s soooooo obvious). Cain blackmails Mark about Faye. Jimmy’s heartbroken when Nicola tells him that she’s putting the baby up for adoption. Katie’s pleased to receive some useful business contacts from Nathan. Jimmy’s doesn’t know how to save his faltering relationship with Nicola. Mark and Natasha are horrified when they see Maisie kissing Cain in the Woolpack. Ryan tells Mark to end it with his mother. Katie’s splits with Nathan and is unimpressed when he assumes they can get back together; she tells him to get lost.
