Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.
Corrie stars Charlie Lawson and Nick Cochrane, better known to most of us as Jim and Andy McDonald, are heading back to Weatherfield. Apparently, the pair are to make a one-off appearance for Steve and Becky’s re-arranged marriage.
Producer Kim Crowther revealed that Jim would be returning as Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles) causes a "rumpus" at the nuptials. She hinted: "The thing that Jim gets embroiled in isn’t what you would expect. It’ll be a big old McDonald wedding."
Now, as we all know, Charlie Lawson lost the part of Jim McDonald nine years ago as he battled personal problems. However, according to The Sun newspaper, sources on the soap hinted that his one-off return could turn into regular appearances. For the 49-year-old actor, it’s a dream comeback (so it is!), and friends say he hopes it could become permanent.
Well, I don’t know about you soapsters, but I’m certainly looking forward to seeing Jim and Andy McDonald back on the cobbles again. Eddie and Gary Windass, one of the current father and son Corrie duos, just aren’t doing it for me at the moment. And I’ve always liked Jim… so I have. Anyway guys, the MacDonalds are due to make their appearance on Corrie next month. I can’t wait.
And as for Steve and Becky’s second attempt at tying the knot, well, something tells me that we could be in for the sequel of Friday the 13th; I really hope that’s not the case. It wasn’t one of the most classic Corrie weddings ever. I’ve almost forgotten everything that didn’t happen.
That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Friday for the result of the caption competition plus more soap news and gossip. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
