Enders’ Dot Discovers The Truth About Nick

Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.   What’s going on in soapland this week? Let’s find out…

EastEnders w/e Friday June 5

It’s an explosive week in EastEnders as the Dot, Nick and Dotty storyline steps up a notch. I remember the days when Nick Cotton was a genuinely unpleasant character – a real nasty piece of work. Now he’s just a pantomime villain; John Altman’s on to a really cushy number; he comes in as Nick Cotton, hams it up a bit, tries to kill his ma and goes away again before doing it all over again a couple of years later. It’s like the East End version of Groundhog Day. Not that I’m complaining.

I like Nasty Nick. However, I just think this particular storyline has stretched credibility further than a surgeon’s stretched Joan Rivers’ face. Anyway, Nick and Dotty start their plan to poison Dot. Bianca discovers that Whitney’s skipping her exams. Garry tells Dawn that they should buy Summer clothes from the local charity shop.

Dawn confronts Phil about his drinking and Pat has a chat to Whitney about school. Garry wants to buy Minty and Naomi out of the flat so that he and Dawn can be a proper family. Dot is shocked to learn the truth about Nick. Meanwhile, the man in question has locked everyone in the Café and in the chaos, nobody notices the fire that’s started on the cooker and there’s an explosion. In the aftermath, Bradley ends up in hospital. Whitney’s mystery man bumps into her again and the locals blame Christian for the fire. Shirley gets jealous as Phil flirts with Dawn. Bianca tells Whitney to either concentrate on school or get a job. Whitney’s shocked when she opens the door to a familiar face…

Also on EastEnders this week:
Phil offers Dawn a stash of money
Max continues his attempts to woo Tanya
Bradley snaps at Patrick.

Hollyoaks w/e Friday June 5

How good is it to see Gemma Bissix return to Hollywoodoaks as evil psychopath Clare Devine? Pity it looks like a short stint though. Every soap needs a good villain and Clare is one of the best Hollyoaks has ever had. Justin’s distraught thinking Hannah has been killed in The Loft fire. Sasha struggles to come to terms with the fact that it was Warren’s body brought out of The Loft. Carmel’s heart breaks for Spencer when he asks where Warren is. Sasha vows to find Justin to make him pay. Russ is still reeling after finding Nancy in bed with Kris. Hannah and Justin say their goodbyes and then Hannah begs Justin to take her with him. Sasha loses it with Justin, vowing revenge. Ste attempts to talk Justin into leaving alone. Josh punches Rhys. Justin worries about dragging Hannah into a life on the run – she soon realises that he’s left without her.

Russ has Max and his passport is missing. Nancy suddenly proposes to a stunned Russ who toys with the idea of him and Nancy leaving together and starting a new life. Calvin admits to a shocked Carmel that he left Warren to die. Newt, Lauren, Anita and Theresa are all struggling to revise for their exam. Spencer’s upset and Calvin’s finding it hard coping with him. Sasha confronts Clare and later, she’s arrested. A relieved Calvin takes Sasha and Spencer home, hoping his nightmare is over. Carmel tells Jacqui that she let Russ take Max. Calvin’s about to confess to Mark when Sasha runs over with new evidence.

Anita’s secretly been revising for her exam
Hannah’s grilled by Mark

Coronation Street w/e Friday June 5

You know it’s going to be a scintillating summer on’t cobbles if the best they can come up with is hyping up a non-story about a vasectomy for Ashley Peacock. The other piece of news is that Anthony Cotton’s Sean will get a new love interest and Poppy dares to sack our Betty! What’s she thinking? The woman’s famous for her hot pots – what will Ken Barlow eat now?

This week, the Peter/Michelle and Luke triangle rumbles on. Jason asks Tina out for a drink and I’m counting down the seconds until Gail and Eileen go at it again. Audrey and Gail plan their trip to see Sarah. When David realises Audrey’s house will be empty, he comes up with a plan of his own. It’s an emotional goodbye for Michelle as she prepares for the tour. Hayley brings home the cardboard cut-out of Eddie to an angry Roy and a devastated Anna (Debbie Rush). Humiliated Anna confronts Eddie about his latest scam.

Meanwhile, feeling vengeful, David steals Joe’s bottle of pills. Sean complains that he’s bored with his life and lack of love. Peter’s struggling to stay off alcohol. Kevin’s suspicions about Molly and Jason grow. Poppy becomes increasingly irritated with Betty. David puts his burglary plan into action; Gary enters the house alone. Blanche is suspicious of Peter. Steve upsets Sean by asking Becky to pose for the charity photo for the Gazette. As Steve tries to sort out Sean, Poppy decides to do a new rota, completely missing out Betty. Steve’s confused as Betty accuses him of getting Poppy to sack her. David’s plan unravels – Ted’s in the house. David’s granddad ends up suffering a heart attack.

Also on Coronation Street this week:
Bill goes to a singles night in a hotel bar
Tina confronts Gary about his wandering hands
Fiz is still upset over John

Emmerdale w/e Friday June 5

Charlotte Bellamy, best known to fans as Laurel Thoms, has revealed that she is expecting her third child with her partner Mungo Denison. The 36-year-old is due to begin her maternity leave in October. But way more immediate is this: what’s going on with Andy Sugden? He’s going to start acting rather strangely in a couple of weeks. Now how are we supposed to tell the difference? He’s been doing that for some time now. Anyway, his odd behaviour will leave some of the locals concerned for his mental health. It comes amid an upcoming custody decision over his daughter Sarah. Back to this week and the unlikely romance between Bob and Gennie continues to grow – he’s got more problems than Gordon Brown but Gennie has feelings for him so there you go. Aaron leaves Victoria when he shoplifts a handbag. Jimmy ends up revealing the pregnancy in front of Betty.

Andy’s worried the custody decision will go against him and prepares to take Sarah to Spain to stay with Annie. Carl finds a pregnancy test in Lexi’s bag. Pollard gets back on the campaign trail. Debbie thinks about taking Sarah to see Andy but Cain warns her not to do him any favours. When Aaron mentions he was talking to Victoria about the state Andy is in Debbie is even more concerned. Debbie is worried when Sarah runs towards Andy in the village and starts crying when Andy fails to acknowledge her. The Dingles make a start on planning for Sarah’s birthday but Debbie frets about what might happen when she realises Andy won’t be there.

Also on Emmerdale this week:
Paddy tells Aaron off for not taking care of Clyde
David tries to keep a secret from Pollard
Terry’s stunned when he sees Gennie and Bob kiss

All I say about eastenders is walford must be the most depressing place to live, would`nt need nasty nic to see me off as walking in walford would. But then again its only a soap.Must be a crime to be happy in walford!

  11. Bernie J says:

We need to have more story lines with Morals and decent living for a change. Instead the writers are encouraging little six year olds to murder their grandparents and parents. Where are the decent living standards gone to. What are we teaching our children to do. Yes the story line grabs you, but what next That little girl\’s mind is warped. What will happen now? Will she grow up to be a murderer. Billie needs to wake up and stop feeling sorry for himself. Why can\’t we have more of Stacy she is a gas

  12. dava says:

there\’s not enough gangsters, villains and murders in eastenders. it\’s just lame. if you\’re gonna stretch reality the way they do on these soaps then at least take it to an extreme. possibly even have aliens land there, have the devil possess dot, make them do pagan ritual sacrifices etc. throw away the rulebook, just go mad cos this kinda lame madness that they\’re sellling us is just.. well.. poo.

  13. dava says:

what i mant to say was.. dream sequences. LOTS of them.
