Hello and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. There’s still time to enter this week’s caption competition so get scribbling and make us all laugh.
Hey soapsters, here’s a bit good news for all you Emmerdale fans out there. Actress Emma Atkins is set to reprise her role as Charity Tate later this year. The producers promise she’ll be as controversial as ever. The 33-year-old, who played the role for five years between 2000 and 2005, is the first in a wave of "stunning new signings" that will inject a new lease of life into the show over the coming months.
The announcement comes two months after producers revealed that Jeff Hordley was returning as Charity’s cousin, and former lover, Cain Dingle. Apparently, former prostitute Charity will leave daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) shocked when she appears for the first time since leaving a trail of heartbreak behind her in 2005.
Cast your mind back to when she walked out on Debbie after having an affair with Sadie King’s husband Jimmy. Emma, 33, said: "Charity is a wonderfully complex character and an absolute joy to play. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to explore a new era of Charity, Cain and Debbie and will relish seeing what she’s been up to since we saw her last."
Producers claim the shocks in Emmerdale won’t end with the reintroduction of these two controversial characters. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to see Emmerdale’s Charity Tate and Cain Dingle back in the show. They’re definitely the ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ of the Dales and their return can only mean good things for the soap. So, what are your thoughts on their great comeback? Leave a comment and tell us what you think.
That’s it for me, I’m out of here. Join me on Friday for more soap news and gossip and the results of last week’s caption competition. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
