Let’s start with Sean ‘Shout!’ Slater not being the daddy in EastEnders. Not as compelling as everyone finding out about Max and Stacey’s affair, was it? I was on the edge of my seat last year, not so this year. However, Suzy’s stinging insult about Ben Mitchell being conceived with "weak sperm" is officially the funniest thing I’ve heard in a soap this year. Sorry, Blanche Hunt – you almost made it but you were trumped at the very last minute. Talking of Corrie, I can’t decide if the Tony ‘JR’ Gordon/Jed storyline is too ridiculous for words or just plain stupid. "Jed’s not dead, baby. Jed’s not dead." I could hear all the Pulp Fiction fans groaning in unison at that one….
Moving on to Hollyoaks and actor Jamie Lomas has claimed he is like his character, bad guy Warren Fox. The soap star – who is dating Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh – reassured fans he is not a murderer, but he relates to Warren.
Jamie explained: "Obviously I don’t go around killing people, but when acting I think you have to have some sort of similarities to draw from for the character. You have to draw something from somewhere – some life experiences. Like I said, I’ve never killed anyone but you’ve got to have some elements of the character, otherwise it wouldn’t be believable!" He added: "For some people, trouble just follows them around and no matter how much they try to stay away from it they’re like a magnet for it. They try and be good and they just can’t – that’s just the way they’re built. Unfortunately, Warren’s just one of those people. I think in Warren’s head he doesn’t think he’s a bad person; he honestly believes he’s a good person. He’s got morals, but they’re his own. If you’re loyal to Warren he’ll be loyal to you."
