Hello and welcome to A Slice Of Soap. So, what’s going in our favourite soaps this week? Let’s find out….
Coronation Street w/e Friday December 5
I still can’t believe that Dynasty star Stephanie Beacham’s gonna be rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Battersbys soon. Must admit, I’m not convinced that she’ll fit in long-term. And what’s all this about Ken having yet another affair anyway? Isn’t he getting a bit too old for all that messing around? Surely there are other characters that deserve a love life? Why aren’t the Corrie producers taking me up on my idea about making factory Kelly and taxi driver Lloyd the new Jack and Vera? Come on Corrie – you know it makes sense! Back to this week’s action and Tony and Carla’s wedding day is fast approaching and, as with so many soap weddings, that can only mean one thing…trouble.
Y’see this week Maria finally learns the truth about Carla and Liam’s affair – with a little bit of help from Sally and Rosie Webster – of course. Devastated and furious, Maria races through the hotel determined to have it out with Carla, but will Maria get to her before she leaves for her honeymoon? All will be revealed on the one hour special this Wednesday. Norris finally wins a competition but still isn’t happy. Peter invites Leanne out for a drink. Jed starts to make life difficult for Tony. Steve’s plan of being a bad boyfriend is working and he’s starting to get on Michelle’s nerves. Jed fills an interested Kevin and Sally in on his dealings with Tony. Pat’s surprised at the amount of animosity towards his brother from Emily, Jed and Kevin. Tina’s worried about her dad and the amount of cash he’s splashing out…

Ken and Peter row again over the latter’s parenting skills
Steve’s desperate to spend some time with Becky
Norris goes for a drink with Mary
Emmerdale w/e Friday December 5
Well, it looks like we’re in for some nail-biting drama in the rural soap as Jasmine finds out the hard way that investigative journalism isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Emmerdale star Jenna-Louise Coleman, who plays Jasmine, has said that she loves her character’s new dark storylines. Jasmine is reportedly set to commit murder following a violent confrontation with her police officer boyfriend Shane Doyle. Speaking about the forthcoming plot, she said: "I’ve been dying for something to sink my teeth into. What I love about it is that I think Jasmine is one of the last characters in the village you would have down as a murderer – she is probably the opposite of a soap villain." Bent copper Shane attempts to rape Jasmine and she fights back. A rape storyline in a soap before the watershed? It’s sure to spark complaints – brace yourselves, you’ve been warned! Anyway, on with the show and Shane gives Jasmine some information on homelessness to encourage her to write a public interest story.
Chas takes Zak and Eli to Aaron’s father’s house for news of her son; she’s worried when it seems Aaron’s gone missing. Ross is instantly suspicious when Shane tries to press him on Donna’s pursuit of the MacFarlanes. Shane advises Ross to convince Donna to stop looking. Meanwhile, hearing that Aaron’s in the hands of the MacFarlanes, Chas demands a full-scale Dingle rescue. Will the Dingles win in their battle of wits with the MacFarlanes? Elsewhere, with Shane’s lifeless body in front of her, Jasmine struggles to comprehend her actions. Paddy tells Ross that he’ll not let him ruin Donna and Marlon’s marriage so can Donna and Ross forget their affair and return to their everyday lives? Meanwhile Jasmine, Debbie and Eli arrive back in the village with no idea how to dispose of Shane’s body. Plagued by nightmares of guilt, what now for Jasmine?

Eli persuades Danielle to be their eyes and ears

EastEnders w/e Friday December 5
That Joe Swash is a bit of a dark horse isn’t he? Not only is he the bookies’ favourite to win I’m A Celebrity, but rumour has it that he’s dating Hollyoaks’ Hannah Tointon…can you believe it? I tell you what, I’m beginning to think his talents were wasted in Albert Square. Being given his P45 may probably turn out to be the best thing that’s ever happened to him…pity the same can’t be said about Mohammed George…where is our old hero Gus? Anyway, on with the show…Vinnie and Shirley are preparing to go off on their travels – but is Shirley having second thoughts? Well, we all know the answer to that – Vinnie leaves Albert Square, possibly for the last time. In the future, Bobby Davro’s association with EastEnders will go down as one of those things that sounded good on paper – but I’m on record for never really thinking that he would work out. And so it was.
Tanya tells Jack that things are over between them. Tony takes Whitney’s passport and throws it away. Shirley’s in for a surprise when Heather discovers a shocking secret about Suzy. Jack takes drastic action to get back at Max. Doting new parents Sean and Roxy wait anxiously by Amy’s ventilator. A nervous Jane visits Tanya in prison. Peter’s busy writing his speech for the debate but Lucy has no plans to work on hers and slumps in front of the TV much to Peter’s disbelief. Whitney’s determined to leave Walford with Tony but will she get what she wants? Jack demands a DNA test but Roxy is adamant that even if Jack’s the biological father, he’ll never be a part of Amy’s life. Ian cancels Christmas much to the disgust of his family.

Just a little bit of news for you concerning Emma Rigby, best known as Hannah Ashworth in Hollyoaks. The star recently picked up a prestigious award; it honoured Hollyoaks’ treatment of her character’s struggle with eating disorders in this year’s Mental Health Media Awards. Congratulations to Emma Rigby, who also picked up the coveted Best Actress gong at this year’s British Soap Awards. With critical acclaim and storming ratings, Hollywoodoaks is definitely doing the business. Back to this week’s drama and Tony’s living nightmare worsens as he’s arrested in the Village for sexual activity with a child… is he about to lose everything? Carmel’s excited – it’s her first day as school liaison officer. But Calvin’s clearly occupied with other things. Mandy’s confused by Warren’s lack of contact and voices her fears to Cindy. Calvin’s horrified to find himself thrust to the forefront of an unofficial raid on the Loft; he is forced to beat up Warren.
Sarah’s struggling to cope with her feelings towards Zoe. Calvin’s relieved when Warren finally regains consciousness. Mandy’s left puzzled by Warren’s disappearance. Leila’s dismayed to find that someone’s been stealing her advent calendar chocolates. Mandy confesses that she’s been having an affair with Warren. Calvin’s struggling to cope with the mess he’s got himself in. A distraught Louise hides her heartbreak as she cares for Warren. Suzanne’s angry when Holly arrives, minus Cindy, at The Dog and asks Rhys to look after her. Elsewhere, with ructions in Halls over more missing food, a smug Leila announces she’s caught the thief red handed on her spycam. Sasha’s looking forward to a shopping trip with Calvin, but he’s nowhere to be found.
