Hello soapsters and welcome to today’s edition of A Slice Of Soap.
I’m sure you’ve all heard the news about the possibility of ex-Dynasty and Strictly Come Dancing star Stephanie Beacham joining the cast of Coronation Street. I still can’t believe that Sable Colby could be rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Battersbys and the Websters. However, the British-born Hollywood actress (she was also in Beverly Hills 90210) is in the running to play Ken Barlow’s new love interest. A source said: "Nobody could quite believe it that she was going for a part; it would be a great coup to get Stephanie on board."
Although other actresses are said to be auditioning for the role of Ken Barlow’s love interest, my money’s on the 61-year-old glamour puss winning the role. I would love to see her on’t cobbles – I loved her on The Colbys. But what’s all this about a love interest? It means that Ken’s eyes are wandering again. I can’t imagine how he’d dare carry on with someone else – not with his sharp-tongued mother-in-law Blanche Hunt living under the same roof! If Stephanie Beacham’s character turns out to be as bitchy as Sable, Deirdre’s got a real challenge on her hands. If she comes, it’ll be a case of move over Rosie Webster and make way for a true soap vixen. So what do we know about the former Dynasty star… some little facts for you.
