EastEnders’ Roxy Gives Birth

Hello and Welcome To A Slice Of Soap. So what’s going on in soapland this week? Let’s find out.

EastEnders w/e Friday November 21

In the words of Bruce Forsyth: didn’t they do well! I refer to the display the cast of EastEnders put on for Children In Need on Friday night. Let’s not forget there were some pseudo pop stars in the line-up: who can forget Sid Owen’s brief brush with chart success back in June 2000 with a cover of the Michael Jackson classic We’ve Got A Good Thing Going. Sid basically re-did the reggae version of the same song which was a hit for Sugar Minott back in 1981. And as for Patsy Palmer, didn’t she have a hit on both sides of the Atlantic with the Michael Jackson classic I Want You Back? Only in her dreams…but thumbs up to the cast – they were great, especially Jamie Borthwick (Jay Brown); he really looked the part of a Victorian street urchin…hoodie or no hoodie.

Anyway, to this week’s action and as it appears to be an unwritten soap rule that no birth will be smooth, Roxy goes into premature labour and the baby’s transferred into intensive care. Roxy is devastated that Sean hasn’t made the effort to turn up. Tony continues to manipulate Whitney and make her life difficult. Jack’s  finding it hard to cope and turns to Suzy and Bradley for help. Vinnie tries his best to fool his new girlfriend. Roxy tells Christian that she’s back with Sean. Bradley goes to visit Max and gives him some devastating news.

Also on EastEnders this week:
Linda reprimands Christian
Whitney’s jealous when Tony brings Lauren home for tea
Suzy gives Shirley a bad experience in the salon

Emmerdale w/e Friday November 21

Departing Dales star Roxanne Pallett recently spoke about why she chose to call it a day, admitting concern over "repetitive and stale" plotlines. She told the Daily Star: "I’d like to leave Jo with an impact. That should be now, before things get repetitive and stale." Well, the big story on Emmerdale this week is the death of Donald De Souza at the hands of Matthew King. It’s all part of the great Emmerdale exodus. Yes folks, Matthew will withhold Donald’s pills as the dying man clutches his chest realising that he’s having a heart attack. It’s a tad reminiscent of Frank and Kim Tate, isn’t it? She watched him die. What was that about "repetitive and stale" plotlines? Anyway unlike EastEnders, and more like Corrie’s Liam Connor murder, we’re not left wondering ‘who dunnit’, but rather, how long Matthew can keep his dark secret from Anna. Back to the other happenings in the Dales…Anna’s on edge as she waits in desperation for Matthew’s return. Bob’s at a loss when he senses the chilly atmosphere between Terry and Brenda. Tragedy strikes for Donald.

Jimmy can’t hide his delight when Scarlett says she can’t move into Daz’s pigsty (and yes, I’m talking about his home just in case you’re confused). Lisa offers to look after Sarah but can Jo and Andy find a peaceful arrangement for her sake? Matthew  confesses that he left Donald to die – Carl’s horrified but will he keep his brother’s confidence? Jimmy regrets his scheming with Daz when he sees how upset Scarlett is. Andy and Jo receive a warning about arguing around Sarah. Anna’s remorse makes Matthew feel even worse. Brenda and Terry hit a problem when TJ objects to his dad’s special friend….

Also on Emmerdale this week:
Victoria schemes to swindle Pollard
Rodney assists with Donald’s funeral arrangements
Anna fears she may have misjudged her father

Coronation Street w/e Friday November 21

This week sees the long-awaited return of Hayley Cropper, Roy’s other half…remember her? It seems like she’s been gone forever. Anyway Hayley’s return can only mean good things for Corrie when it comes to writing any comedy moments. I’ve always found them quite funny together when it comes to their moments of domesticity. Like when Hayley will ask Roy if he wants a cup of cocoa and he’ll say something like: "Yes please, I’ll have it as I watch this documentary about why the Flying Scotsman is the king of the steam engines". That stuff cracks me up! Expect more of that now that Hayley’s back. Becky’s busy preparing for Hayley’s return but the day doesn’t turn out quite as planned. ‘Damien’ David’s worried about retaliation from the Windass family. Dev starts legal proceedings to buy the takeaway shop from Sinbad/Jerry. I don’t mind a bit of Dev action, but I’m really getting bored of the Tara/Prem/Nina thing.

Emily’s surprised to spot Jed Stone at the hospital and discovers he was evicted from his home by an unscrupulous property developer (I wonder who that could be?). Hayley wants to go back to Africa. Eh? She just got back to Weatherfield!! Gary and Len arrive on the Street looking for the Platts. Graeme tries to figure out a way to get rid of the stolen car. Darryl discovers what Dev’s up to and finds it hard to believe that Amber didn’t know. Emily offers Jed a room at her house. Norris loses out on the Cliff Richard competition. Amber takes the ultimate revenge on her dad…is this the end of his relationship with Tara? Oh I really hope so!! The Windasses do David and Graeme a favour when they steal the stolen car thinking it belongs to David…

Also on Coronation Street this week:
Jason tries to beg forgiveness from Becky
Molly’s worried that Tyrone’s been lying to her
A furious Tina sets off to see the Windasses

Hollyoaks w/e Friday November 21

Calvin simmers with anger after finding condoms in Carmel’s bag. Leo tries to diffuse things, but Calvin’s convinced she’s up to no good. Lauren remains quiet but knows she has to find Carmel before Calvin does. Meanwhile, Carmel obliviously chats to Mark about his relationship problems fending off an upset Michaela and Myra on the way.

Carmel has moved back home and Lauren can’t believe Calvin’s being so stupid as to just let her walk out of his life. Calvin wants nothing more than to have Carmel back but he can’t bear the guilt of having killed Nige hanging over his marriage. Calvin goes to see Warren and tells him that he can’t take it anymore but Warren manages to convince him that it’s not worth throwing his life away over.Hannah’s panicking about Belle Naturelle and when Louise and Carmel convince her to glam it up, Hell’s Bells is born. Leila thanks Hannah for convincing her to go out with Gilly but Hannah reveals to Elliot that she feels guilty about it since Leila’s clearly still hung up on Justin.

Also on Hollyoaks this week:
Hannah’s panicking about Belle Naturelle
Carmel finds out about Mark being beaten up
Zoe and Sarah receive an unexpected phone call
