Corrie’s Tony ‘JR’ Gordon Strikes Again!

Hello and Welcome To A Slice Of Soap. So what’s going on in soapland this week? Let’s find out.

Coronation Street w/e Friday October 3

It’s a sad week in Corrie, especially for fans of Rob James-Collier. It’s getting closer…..A bit of a spoiler here…then again, it’s not really a secret is it? Evil businessman Tony ‘JR’ Gordon schemes as he plots Liam Connor’s demise. How will it happen? Off a cliff to his death? Car ‘accident’? I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I can bare to watch it. I still haven’t got over the death of EastEnders’ Jase Dyer yet… watching him die at the hands of Terry and his mob was just awful, but something tells me that the sinister way in which Liam Connor will meet his end is gonna be a whole lot worse.
I just hope that Tony ‘JR’ Gordon gets what’s coming to him sooner rather than later. And what will actor Rob James-Collier do next? The grass isn’t always greener outside soapland y’know…just ask Sid ‘Rickaaaaaaaaaaaay!’ Owen.

But back to this week’s action…A worried Sally discovers that Rosie hasn’t been home all night. Leanne and Janice finally have their bank card for the forged account. It’s goodbye to Sinbad/Jerry and crew; Finlay and Kayleigh are excitedly packing for their trip to Spain. Such a shame about losing Michael Starke – he could’ve been a good addition to Corrie’s supporting cast if they hadn’t saddled him with a family. Tony’s cool when questioned by the police about Rosie’s disappearance. Does he know more than he’s letting on? A suspicious Tony grills Carla about what she’s been up to. Greedy Leanne’s not willing to curb her spending. Audrey and Ted are back from their trip and give conflicting reports on how it went, much to Bill’s amusement. Tina suggests David get a job working for her dad. Kevin and Sally are stunned as they read Rosie’s bank statement. Tony, Carla, Liam and Maria arrive at the hotel for their weekend away. Elsewhere, Amber tells Darryl that she’s seen his mum drunk in the precinct. Sally resorts to drafting in John for help with a list of Rosie’s old school friends. Jason’s in turmoil after discovering that Sarah’s thinking about coming home.

Also on Coronation Street:
Liam and Carla are suspicious about Tony
Kevin and Sally are distraught over Rosie’s disappearance
Tom’s back from New York

Emmerdale w/e Friday October 3

So, what are Emmerdale’s chances of picking up an Inside Soap Award tonight? Well, they’re up against EastEnders and Corrie in the Best Storyline category for the death of baby Daniel. It was very effective, but personally, my money’s on Coronation Street for the death of Vera Duckworth. Every time I recall those last moments of Coronation Street’s legendary character, I find myself reaching for the Kleenex tissues…boo hoo…so sad…we miss you Vera chuck. Oh well. Back to Emmerdale. Eli and Danielle are reconciled following their night of passion. Pearl agrees to check on Lily following Edna’s concerns but is cut down by Lily’s tongue. Jo suggests that Andy attends anger management classes. Shane discovers Danielle’s drugs and arrests her…

Chas hears Ross is looking for a date and makes it clear she’s available. Lily gets on the money trail by entering a radio trivia competition. Ross is wracked with guilt after spending the night with Chas. Eli ignores Debbie’s protestations of innocence and continues to blame her for Danielle’s plight. Lily continues to put on a brave face, but Pearl sees straight through it. At Home Farm, Katie is furious with Nicola’s presence and Anna is forced to apologise after admitting she convinced Matthew to hire her. Shane approaches Donna and indirectly makes it clear he knows what she and Ross got up to. Elsewhere, Gennie reflects on how much her life has changed since meeting the Dingles…

Also on Emmerdale:
Jo confesses to Victoria that there is no baby
Lily admits to Pearl that Peter’s in trouble
Marlon surprises Donna with a new dress

EastEnders w/e Friday October 3

It’s a week of goodbyes as we say farewell to another soapster. Patrick Trueman’s other half Yolande, played by Angela Wynter, heads out of the Square (see you next year on Strictly Come Dancing Angela!). The actress has been in EastEnders since 2003 but the producers let her go, stating a shortage of suitable storylines for her. In all honesty, Yolande is one of those characters on ‘Enders who’s a bit like a glorified extra…in other words, I can’t see hardcore fans missing her too much (rather like our old friend Gus Smith played by Mohammed George). However, we here at A Slice Of Soap wish Angela Wynter all the best for the future… Back to this week’s drama: Max hands Callum a cheque for £1,000 to leave Walford for good. Whitney’s worried that Tony’s going to marry Bianca. Stacey reassures Bradley that his appraisal will go well. Bianca’s on the lookout for a new flat. Yolande’s nervous about her meeting at head office.

Pat senses there’s something not quite right about Bianca and Tony’s engagement. Tanya tells Lauren that she can’t go on the skiing trip. Christian offers to go to Ronnie’s school reunion with her. Tony flirts with Lauren and Christian discovers the real reason why Ronnie doesn’t want to go to her reunion. Elsewhere, Patrick tells Heather about the new job in Birmingham. Denise arranges a leaving party for Patrick and Yolande. Christian finds Lee’s business card in his jacket pocket and decides to give him a call.  Jack arranges for Lauren and Peter to go on an activity weekend together, much to Max’s annoyance. Stacey tells Callum she needs more space. Bradley gambles £10,000 on the horses. Max pays Peter a visit and asks him to break off his relationship with Lauren and Christian provides Ronnie with Joel’s contact details after going for a drink with Lee.

Also on EastEnders:
Bradley packs Stacey’s belongings
Christian drags Ronnie to her school reunion
Patrick doesn’t want to move to Birmingham

Hollyoaks w/e Friday October 3

As you all know by now, it’s the Inside Soap Awards tonight and the question that’s on everyone’s lips is: can Hollyoaks take the prize for Best Soap? Well, if they don’t win it, they should still be in with a chance of coming away with a gong thanks to former Hollyoaks babe Gemma Bissix. She’s been shortlisted twice for Best Bitch – for her roles as EastEnders’ Clare Bates and also, Clare Cunningham in Hollyoaks. Although she’s up against pretty stiff competition in the form of Corrie’s Angela King aka Carla Connor, I reckon she’s definitely in with a good chance. All will be revealed at the awards ceremony tonight (including some flesh on a Hollyoaks babe or two – they’re always dressed to the nines). But back to this week’s action…Russ tries to come to terms with the massive changes in his life. Malachy is weighed down with guilt as he still dreads the thought of telling Mercedes he could have given her HIV. Amy tells Josh she’s going to have an abortion. Darren tries to make it up to Newt but he’s in hiding.

Mercedes is on cloud nine after her night of passion with Malachy. Tina feels like an outcast in the village. Amy reveals to Josh that Mike has forgiven her for lying. Darren decides to plan a special meal for Jack and Frankie to encourage them to leave for Spain together. Amy begins to have second thoughts about her abortion. Tina begins to ease in to family life with Russ. Darren reveals to Cindy that he was planning on getting rid of Frankie and Jack to get his hands on the Dog. Jacqui persuades Mercedes to go for an HIV test. Darren suggests Frankie and Jack spend the day in each other’s company. Ste attempts to apologise to Justin. Russ feels embarrassed about rejecting Tina and spends most of the day avoiding her. Mandy tries to take Dom’s mind off Tina by helping out at Il Gnosh. Calvin and Carmel return from Honeymoon with a renewed vigour…

Also on Hollyoaks
Steph’s having a bad day
Newt’s excited about the move to Spain
Mercedes learns that she could have HIV

  1. adrian says:

Tony Gordon, JR?  This guy\’s more of a, J-arfur!  The best thing about this story is that we bid good riddance to the awful plank of wood that is Rob Collier.

  2. Linda says:

What planet is the person on who called Rob Collier from Corrie a plank. He is the best thing in the soap & it\’s criminal (literally) to bump him off. Let\’s hope we see him in something else before long

  3. Lesley says:

ROB COLLIER JUST ACTED HIS SOCKS OFF ON CORRY (3RD 0CT) AND IS SUCH A GOOD ACTOR HE SHOULD FIND WORK EASILY!!

  4. Sammy says:

I think they should have made more of an effort to keep "Liam" rather than him assuming he\’d be typecasted what a shame!
