Hello and welcome to Friday’s edition of A Slice Of Soap. It’s beyond a joke so I’m not going to tell any gags about The Bill being the retirement home for soap stars. However, the latest addition, former Hollyoaks star Elize Du Toit, says she enjoyed reuniting with fellow ex Hollyoaks co-star Ali Bastian on the set of The Bill.
Elize is set to play Claire Webster, a woman who is beaten and dumped outside a hospital in front of Sun Hill officers. Speaking of her guest role, Elize told entertainment website Digital Spy: "It was great working with the cast and crew of The Bill and lovely to be working in the same building as Ali Bastian again. We lived together when we worked on Hollyoaks and have remained good friends since. Claire Webster was a really fun character to and it was a great part."
For those of you that aren’t familiar with her, the South African-born actress played Izzy Davies (née Cornwell) from 2000 to 2004, with a brief reprisal of the role in 2007. Izzy was Tony Hutchinson’s tenant when she arrived in Hollyoaks and she soon became embroiled in various love tangles: Adam Morgan fell in love with her; she dated hard man Dan Hunter, got involved with fireman Ben Davies and eventually hooked up with Tony to become one of Hollyoaks’ most unlikely couples. But she ended up marrying Ben – except it didn’t work out.
In The Bill, Elize Du Toit’s character Claire has debt problems, and ends up on the receiving end of a vicious warning from drug dealers. It’s the case which sparks DC Terry Perkins’ (Bruce Byron) journey to Germany, and the special episodes which mark the show’s 25th anniversary. They air on November 12 and 13. I might start a new game: predict the next actor/actress to end up in The Bill. Any takers?
That’s it for now. Join me on Monday for a preview of all the week’s soaps. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
