Emmerdale Star Leaving The Soap

Hello and welcome to A Slice Of Soap. News that may come as a bit of a surprise is that Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett is to quit the rural soap later this year.

The actress, who plays battered wife Jo Sugden, is understood to be leaving in about six months. Emmerdale bosses said they could not confirm the move but series producer Anita Turner said: "Roxanne has given a fantastic performance and it will be an eventful six months for Jo." Roxanne joined Emmerdale in 2005 as fiery biker Jo Stiles – back then she was all sexy bombshell type. She was definitely brought into Emmerdale to stir things up.
As if living up to that image, she got into a love triangle with Andy and Katie Sugden (catfight!). Jo and Andy eventually got married while he was serving a prison sentence for a fire that killed his stepmother Sarah Sugden. Her current storyline involves her being the victim of domestic violence at the hands of her troubled husband. Apparently, she’s been wanting to leave for some time now, but was persuaded by Emmerdale producers to stay. Well now she’s finally going and she’ll get a huge exit.

Roxanne Pallett becomes the latest soap star to leave looking for opportunities on the West End stage and beyond. Will she make it elsewhere? Or will we see her turn up in The Bill?

She needs to learn to act first!

  2. Eric says:

I will be sorry to see Roxanne leave. She did bring some glamour into the soap which was badly needed at the time. Hopefully she learns from the experience of being in Emmerdale, since she does need to brush up her acting skills somewhat. Sammy Winward (Kaytie) was dreadful when she first came into it, so wooden, sprouting her lines in a dreary amaterish fashion. But she has improved tremendously, and so will Roxanne. Must admit, I will miss her. I wish her well though.

  3. EV says:

I think Roxanne is a lovely young woman who is looking to her future…dont lets forget we all learn somewhere…she is at the begining of her career i wish her well in the future…good luck young lady dont let anyone knock you down….

Who really cares about who\’s leaving a soap. Its about time people got a hold of reality. All soaps should be banished from our screens and good programmes written.

  5. Soap Blogger says:

Ian, if you don\’t care why have you commented on a dedicated soap blog? I wouldn\’t go to a dedicated football blog and slate football…

  6. Tracy says:

I think that Roxanne is quite a decent actress – I\’ve seen worse in Emmerdale. It will be strange when she\’s not there any more, but I\’m sure they\’ll bring someone else in who will stir things around a bit. I wish her the very best of luck for the future.

  7. Claire says:

I think Roxanne has done very well to get this far, i too am from Carlisle and went to the same school as her, she was a couple of years above me, i also went to brownies with her.
But as most do the star status went to her head alot making comments like the school she went to was like being in the Bronks, has she ever been to the Bronks!!??  It was just a normal school!!!
I wish her every success it what she does next and i hope she always remembers her roots.

I was saddened to hear of the death of actor Clive Hornby. I have been a fan of Emmerdale for more years than i care to remember & despite the fact that there is such a brilliant cast on the show who are so dedicated to doing their job so very well,  i feel that Clive\’s passing will leave such massive gap that will not easily be filled. My thoughts go to Clive\’s family, friends & fellow cast members. Rest In Peace Clive.

I worked with Clive as a freelance cameraman for 15 years. He was always courteous, affable and highly professional. He never failed to say good morning and made me feel very welcome. As the senior member of the cast he set an excellent example for others to follow. Despite his long struggle with ill health,on set his problems never showed. He was a true trooper. Thanks Clive, rest in peace.
