Hello and welcome to A Slice Of Soap. Hollyoaks has definitely had its profile risen over the past couple of weeks. Some may have watched Andrew Lloyd Webber play himself (badly. How did he manage to do that???!) opposite Summer in a storyline that took her and OB to London. Then there’s Chris Fountain (he plays Justin) out on his own in Dancing On Ice (unless he does a Michael Underwood). And now a storyline involving Darren Osborne (played by Ashley Taylor-Dawson).
SPOILER: if you don’t want to know what’s going to happen, don’t read any further.
Some fans may have trouble feeling sympathy, but Darren will apparently be fighting for his life after being gunned down in the street outside his family’s pub. Armed raiders storm The Dog and outcast Darren reportedly takes a bullet during the ensuing chaos according to the Daily Star. The crooks storm the pub and apparently take Frankie, Newt and Warren’s girlfriend Louise hostage.
In a bid to rescue them, Warren is said to charge into the pub but gets into a brawl and is knocked out cold. When the gang use Jack as a human shield and Darren tries to help, he is shot and the villains make their escape. Never a dull moment in Hollyoaks.
By the way, for those of you too young to remember – Ashley Taylor-Dawson was in a pop group called allSTARS* a few years ago. They didn’t do much chart-wise, but Thaila Zucchi, Big Brother 8’s Pauline (also the sultana/Setanta girl), was also a member. Have a laugh at this:
And so our hero made his usual fleeting cameo appearance on EastEnders last week as a chaperone to Clare (if you blinked, you probably missed him). There is no truth to the rumour that Halley’s Comet, visible every 76 years or so, will be renamed in Gus’s honour.
