New mum Tanya, played by 29-year-old Jo Joyner, tumbles down the stairs when she packs up her bags and prepares to leave Max (Jake Wood) after watching a DVD of him getting cosy with Stacey (Lacey Turner) on her wedding day to Bradley (Charlie Clements), reports the Daily Star.
Jake, 35, is quoted as saying: "I can assure fans it’s worth the wait. We were criticised by some who thought we have dragged out the storyline but I think if it had been rushed it would have cheapened it."
Max’s eldest daughter Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) breaks the terrible news to the Branning family when she burns footage of her dad and Stacey onto a disc and gives it to Bradley as a present.
The whole family sit down to watch the show and within minutes the whole household is in uproar after Tanya finally sees her husband for the lying cheat he is.
At last! I was beginning to wonder if Tanya would ever find out about Max’s cheating ways. I’d already concluded that either he’s the world’s best liar or she’s the world’s most naive woman. Personally, I think it was a big mistake dragging this storyline out for so long. I mean, it’s taken the best part of two years for Tanya to find out about Max’s infidelity and it’s not like Max has got a squeaky clean track record when it comes to marital fidelity either.
Most females would’ve smelled a rat long ago – it’s called women’s intuition and it’s daft to think that it wouldn’t have played some kind of part here in the past few months. It’s the same intuition that made it difficult to fool your mum when you were a little kid ("Did you wash behind your ears?" "Yes" "Stop telling fibs! Get in that bathroom!"). But hey, this is EastEnders – you know, the soap where dead characters suddenly come back to life in an attempt to win the ratings war. We should all know by now that anything’s possible when it comes to soap storylines.
As usual, intense, crisis-driven drama is saved for Christmas. When did Tiffany die? Christmas. When was the rarely-mentioned-today Jamie Mitchell run over and killed? Christmas. And when, famously and best of all, did Den serve Angie divorce papers? Christmas. Merry Christmas to you an’all EastEnders writers!
We’ll update you with more information as soon as it reaches the soap newsroom, but this could explain why there’s been so few sightings of our hero on EastEnders this week.
That’s it for now. Join me on Monday for a preview of all the week’s soaps. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
