It looks like we’re in for some real drama on Coronation Street over the next few weeks and it all kicks off tonight as teenage temptress Rosie Webster gets a little (over) familiar with her mum’s English teacher John Stape…who mum Sally also fancies. What a mess! It’s all sounding very Jerry Springer – more Arkansas than Weatherfield. Here’s the story:
Schoolgirl Rosie Webster’s fling with her teacher is set to have far-reaching consequences in Coronation Street. In the Street’s big Christmas storyline, Rosie, played by Helen Flanagan, will seduce English teacher John Stape – but chaos breaks out when her dad Kevin discovers the affair. "Rosie and Stape share a kiss – but it isn’t long before things go a whole lot further," an insider on the soap said. The Daily Star reports that when he finds out the truth, furious Kevin (Michael Le Vell) believes his little girl has been taken advantage of, and batters John. But the mechanic will pay the price for his aggression when he faces jail time for the attack, after being convicted of assault. "When Kevin finds out he goes crazy – and absolutely leathers him," the source revealed. "Stape is rushed to hospital and the police come and arrest Kevin. "Rosie is absolutely devastated. Her bit of fun has ended up in tears with her dad banged up in jail."
Yikes! It looks like Kevin’s going to jail. Personally, I reckon they should lock him up for life and throw away the key! Only joking. Seriously though, how can anyone be so naive? For weeks he’s watched Sally’s teacher – Fiz’s boyfriend – weave his way into the Webster household. And what has Kevin been doing? Guzzling down pint after pint in the Rovers and talking about the football. Tut, tut Kevin. He’s placed a lot of trust in Sally – who has cheated on him before – letting her have private English lessons alone in the house with a red-blooded male…
However, I have to congratulate the Corrie writers because a few years ago, Sally was in danger of becoming as boring as Clurrrrrrrrrrrr, but ever since they gave her a snobby attitude and made her ‘the lady of the house’ like Hyacinth Bucket, she’s been hilarious to watch. And as for daughter Rosie, well, she’s definitely on her way to becoming her mother’s child. It was only a few years ago that Rosie got herself into trouble with her boyfriend Craig, but at least he wasn’t old enough to be her dad.
Anyway, that’s all from me. I’m off to print my "Keep Kevin Webster In Jail" T-shirts (). But in the meantime, let’s find out what’s been happening to our hero Gus Smith. It’s the return of Gus Watch…
"Hello. What’s your name?"
"And what will you be singing for us today, Gus?"
"It’s the theme song from the show I work on Simon. Is it alright if I call you Simon?"
"Yes. Sing the song Gus."
"OK Simon. Here goes…’Anyone can fall in love, That’s the easy part you must keep it going. Anyone can fall in love, over the years it has to keep growing. Sun and rain, joy and pain, there’s…"
"Stop. I can hear the pain. Where’s the joy? It was torture. I think I’d rather listen to one of your poems. Door’s over there."
"But I’m in EastEnders!"
Just another way of saying – where’s Gus? Have the writers forgotten all about him?
That’s it for now. Join me on Monday for a preview of all the week’s soaps. Got a comment about your favourite soap, this blog or anything else? Share it with me.
